As the name implies, Jyeshtha is regarded as the oldest and most auspicious month, therefore it is advantageous to observe fast, carry out puja rites, and do hawan or yajna.
Vat Purnima :
Every year, there are twelve Purnima celebrations. Hindus have a high religious and spiritual value on Vat Purnima. Married women follow the nirjala fast from sunrise to sunset on Vat Purnima, a very auspicious day for their husbands’ longevity and well-being. Unmarried women might also follow the fast in order to find their ideal spouse. They revere the banyan tree called Vat Vriksha.
